title: Getting started
description: A tipping platform for streamers - tips, alerts, overlays, and a chat bot, for at most 1% + 3p per card tip and nothing else.
---

TipPage gives you everything you need to take tips on stream:

- **A tip page** - your public page at `yourname.tippage.com` (or your own domain) where viewers send tips, messages, and media requests.
- **An overlay** - one browser source in OBS that plays tip alerts, TTS, viewer-requested videos, Twitch and Kick alerts, chat, and more.
- **A chat bot** - TipPageBot answers commands in your Twitch and Kick chat and posts alert announcements if you want them.
- **A dashboard** - everything is managed from [my.tippage.com](https://my.tippage.com): queues, filters, bans, refunds, team members, the lot.

## What it costs

There's nothing to pay up front, and the only thing you can subscribe to is the optional [TipPage+](/tippage-plus). On card tips a per-tip fee (2.75% + 23p in the UK, [other countries here](/payments/getting-paid#fees)) comes off the amount transferred to your Stripe account: the transaction fee Stripe charges us for processing the payment, passed on at cost, plus TipPage's own share - 1% + 3p in the UK, less elsewhere. PayPal tips carry no TipPage fee at all; PayPal takes its usual receiving fee. Tips go straight to your own Stripe or PayPal account, and we never hold your funds.

[TipPage+](/tippage-plus) is an optional upgrade at £9.99 a month for streamers who want a custom domain, the AI word filter, a custom bot account, and chargeback cover.

## Privacy, by design

Tips run through TipPage, not directly to you. A viewer's bank statement shows TipPage, never your legal name - so nobody can use a payment receipt to find out who you are or where you live. The word filter (and the AI filter on TipPage+) exists to stop doxxing attempts making it to your stream.

## What happens when someone tips

1. A viewer opens your tip page, enters an amount and a message, and pays.
2. The message runs through your word filter before it goes anywhere.
3. The tip hits your queue and the alert plays on your overlay - name, amount, message, TTS.
4. The money settles in your Stripe or PayPal account.

TipPage works with Twitch, Kick, or both at once - one dashboard, one overlay, one bot. [Accounts, teams and platforms](/api/accounts-teams-platforms) explains how that fits together.
